To enable the rating setting:

  • Log on a site as a site owner and open a document library
  • Go to the┬álibrary settings and click on Rating Settings in the General Settings section
  • Enable the “Allow items in this list to be rated” and click OK
  • Scroll down to the Columns section and ensure that you have two new columns: the Ratings (0-5) and the Number of Ratings
  • Browse back to the document library, upload or edit a document and choose your rating for the document
  • The next time the service timer job responsible for this social feature runs, the rating scale and number will reflect the results
